Breed: Poitevin

Poitevin in motion

Pride and grace of a hound

The Poitevin (originally named *Haut-Poitou*) is one of the oldest and most distinguished hound breeds in France, developed in the 17th century by the Marquis de Larye. The breed was created by crossing traditional French hounds with imported English Foxhounds to achieve unmatched speed, stamina, and scenting ability in the demanding terrain of Poitou.

The Poitevin is a tall, remarkably elegant hound with a light build reminiscent of a cross between a scent hound and a sighthound. It features a dynamic gait, noble ears, and a resonant, melodious voice.

It is an exceptionally rare breed worldwide and difficult to find outside France. We are proud to be **the only kennel in Poland** with two FCI-registered Poitevin females (Aura de l'Empereur and Sombra du Val de Loire). Our mission is to preserve this unique heritage.
